The Mother's Day CD
The Mother's Day CD
by Rebecca the bookseller
If you've been paying attention at all around here, you've already figured out that I love music. So no surprise that when we needed a blog for Mother's Day, I decided to put together a CD. And like all good Type As, I started it Saturday afternoon, detemined to not only finish it, but burn it for my various mothers before midnight.
Here is the thing - everybody has a Mom. Accordingly, every person was, at one time, somebody's baby. Even the most screwed up jagoff on the planet was somebody's little baby at one point in time. I remind myself of this when I am tempted to beat someone to a pulp. His or her mother would not be pleased. So far, it's kept me out of prison.
For those of you who are not mothers - and I do mean mothers, and not muthuhs (a subject Margie wanted to blog about but got vetoed, thank heaven) just take my word for it that it changes your life. And you don't have to give birth to be a mother. Women become mothers in many ways - adoption, family issues, and via pets. I don't have pets, but I am here to tell you that women with animals in their homes are as fiercely maternal as those of us with little humans.
So - here are the tracks from my first ever Mother's Day CD compilation - two CDs in this set, because no way was I elimating any of these. Skip 'em if you want, or just pick and choose. Regardless, Happy Mother's Day from all of us at TLC.

Happy Mother's Day!
Great mix of music styles -
given what was going on during the '50s and '60s, I'd have to include "Mother's Little Helper" by the Rolling Stones...

You forgot that famous country song!
"Up Against the wall you redneck Mothers"!!

SusanCo, a special Happy Mother's Day to you. I'm praying for the day your son is home safe and back in your arms.

Too bad there's not a way to just plug into those songs . . . it would be fun to listen and write.
Meanwhile, Happy Mother's Day to all, including those (including teachers and retired teachers like me) who devote loving energy to other people's children. May the world be better with more "mothering" for all!

Mary - where I come from, when someone named Mary asks for something, we try to answer.
I just submitted both lists to iTunes as "iMixes". When I get the message that they are up an available, I'll be back to tell you how to find them.
Can't do much about having to pay for them, but you can check them out.
Happy Mother's Day to all.
And to SusanCo and all of our other miitary Moms, special prayers.

Happy Mothers Day!
I am still unpacking, but it's good to be able to check in at TLC.
Rebecca - your music collection is staggering. I already hit the iTunes and burned a collection for my Mom. Better late than never, right? Miss you.

Rebecca! I want to say thank you for including the song I penned, for my own Mother, in your iMix. You made my day. Especially since I just release my cd independently on May 8th! Thanks so much and God Bless You!
